The Haverhill Residential Household Hazardous Waste Day will be held at the Wastewater Treatment Plant, 40 South Porter Street in Haverhill.
(PROOF OF RESIDENCY IS REQUIRED.) (Driver’s license/utility bill)
ACCEPTABLE LIMITS AND AMOUNTS • 25 Gallons of liquid chemicals • 25 Pounds of dry chemicals
ACCEPTABLE ITEMS Oil base paints, stains & varnishes, wood preserves, chem-istry sets, paint strippers, thinners, artist supplies, spot remov-er, lighter fluid, fuels, gasoline, kerosene, antifreeze, engine degreaser, brake fluid, carburetor cleaner, car wax, polishes, driveway sealer, roofing tar, swimming pool chemicals, poisons, insecticides, fungicides, chemical fertilizers, weed killer, moth balls, flea & tick control products, rubber cement, furniture pol-ish, rug & upholstery cleaner, florescent light bulbs & ballasts.
UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS LATEX PAINT (Dispose of hardened latex paint with trash. Harden paint by removing lid for several days or by adding ab-sorbent cat litter.) Trash, TV’s, VCR’s computer components, propane cylin-ders, car batteries, asbestos, and cell phones. Commercial or industrial wastes, radioactive waste, biological wastes, ammuni-tion, fireworks, explosives, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, prescription medicines/syringes.
• Leave material in original containers • Tighten caps and lids • Sort and pack separately: oil paint, pesticides, and household cleaners • Pack containers in sturdy upright boxes and pad with newspaper• Never MIX chemicals • Pack your car trunk and drive directly to the site • Pull up to the Clean Harbors dumpster, where their staff will remove items from your trunk • Never SMOKE while handling hazardous materials
