TIFT COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS & REGISTRATION PUBLIC NOTICE THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF TIFT COUNTY SPECIAL PURPOSE LOCAL OPTION SALES AND USE TAX ("SPLOST VI") SPECIAL ELECTION NOVEMBER 7, 2017
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 7th day of November, 2017, an election will be held at the regular polling places in all the election districts of Tift County, Georgia ("the County"), at which time there will be submitted to the qualified voters of the County for their determination the question of whether a one percent County Special Purpose Local Option Sales and use Tax ("SPLOST") shall be imposed on all sales and uses in the County for a period of 6 years for the raising of approximately $60,700,000, for the purpose of funding capital outlay projects ("the Projects") specified in the form of the ballot set forth below.
() Yes Shall a special one percent sales and use tax be imposed in Tift County for a period of time not to exceed 6 years and for the raising of an estimated amount of $60,700,000 for the purpose of funding the following:
(1) For Tift County: Road, Street and Bridge Projects; Public Safety Capital Outlay and Facility Improvements; Renovation and Improvements to County Buildings and Courthouse Addition; Technology Equipment and Upgrades; Recreation Capital Outlay and Facility Improvements; Public Utility Capital Outlay and Improvements; and Economic Development to be completed by the Tift County Development Authority, including capital outlay for construction and/or acquisition of buildings, for renovation and improvements to authority buildings, for land acquisition and/ or improvement; and for the use and benefit of the citizens of the entire County through the development and promotion of trade, commerce, employment, and agriculture, including the acquisition, renovation and improvement of industrial and commercial facilities or property, and any other capital outlay projects consistent with the Tift County Development Authority’s purpose; and Capital Outlay Projects to be completed by the Airport Authority, including construction or improvement of airport runways, capital improvements on airport facilities and infrastructure, airport technology acquisitions or upgrades; and other capital outlay projects consistent with the Airport Authority’s purpose;
(2) For the Municipality of Tifton: Road, Street, Bridge, Drainage and Parking Projects; Vehicle and Machinery Capital Outlay; Technology Equipment and Upgrades; Water and Sewer System Capital Outlay and Improvements; Property Acquisition and Demolition; and Economic Development to be completed by the Downtown Development Authority, including façade projects, building acquisition and improvements, street lights, landscaping and parking improvements to Downtown, projects for the use and benefit of the citizens of the community through the development and promotion of trade, commerce, employment, cultural and agricultural activities, and any other capital outlay projects consistent with the Downtown Development Authority’s purpose;
(3) For the Municipality of Ty Ty: Road, Street, Bridge, Drainage and Parking Projects; Water and Sewer System Capital Outlay and Facility Improvements; and Recreation Capital Outlay and Facility Improvements;
(4) For the Municipality of Omega: Road, Street, Bridge, Drainage and Parking Projects; Capital Outlay for Motorized Vehicles; Water and Sewer System Capital Outlay and Improvements; and Renovation and Improvements to Municipal Buildings;

Persons not already registered to vote and desiring to register to vote in this Election may do so through the close of business on Tuesday, October 10, 2017. Online Voter registration is available until 12:00 midnight on October 10, 2017 on the Georgia Secretary of State’s Website at
www.sos.ga.gov.
All In Person Absentee Voting (Early and Advanced) will be held at the Tift County Board of Elections Office (Old Gym, Building B), located on the corner of 4th Street and Chesnutt Avenue; Monday - Friday Beginning on Monday, October 16, 2017 and Ending on Friday November 3, 2017; 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.
